on just where to find the county's most authentic ethnic
restaurants." Taqueria De Anda was listed under

"There are some six Taqueria De Anda restaurants
in the county but the Chapman Avenue store in Placentia
serves up the best barbecued pork burrito sliced directly
off the spit."

"The best Authentic Carne Asada Burrito
in Southern California. No fluff-fluff lettuce here.
Great food, simple but effective menu, as it should
be. Viva Taqueria De Anda!!"

STUFF BURRITO DREAMS ARE MADE OF
With five restaurants in Orange County, the de Anda
brothers have been making tacos and burritos for 22
years. Their stores are unadorned, and the menu above
the counter is in English and Spanish.
Their burritos are packed and feel like they weigh
5 pounds. The fillings range from chicken to beef head,
but the real gem here is the barbecued pork. You can't
miss it once you make it to the counter. It's layers
of marinated pork and onions impaled on a vertical spit
that rotates slowly before a broiler for hours, creating
luscious, caramelized pork that's sliced off.
But that's only part of the story. The other achievement
among the de Andas is their rice. It's an unusually
aromatic Spanish rice that tastes like nothing else.
Pair the rice with the pork, throw on cold, diced onions
and a splash of chili sauce, and life will once again
hold promise.

Taqueria De Anda serves the basic elements of unbelievably
delicious Mexican food -- carne asada and carnitas straight
from the grill, hot and ready tamales, corn tortillas,
agua frescas in large chilled jars, and fresh guacamole
and salsas. The beauty of all this great food is that
you can get it any time of day or night. Having midnight
snack cravings? Throw on a robe and slippers and rush
over for a torta (commonly called the submarine sandwich
of Mexico). Of course, you can't make the trip to this
taqueria without trying a taco. There are plenty of
varieties, including beefsteak, barbecued pork, chicken,
carnitas, beef tongue, beef head, beef brains and buche
(Spanish for stomach).

Wow! Them are good tacos! I find myself craving the
slightly larger than silver dollar tacos of Taqueria
de Anda at least once a week. Unfortunately I make only
make it there one a month of so. Even so, each time
I go, I have a hard time deciding which kind of taco
to get. They have pork, beef, chicken, head, tongue,
and a few others. They pretty much just have tacos and
burritos, but what they do make, they make very well.
The way they make the tacos is very impressive. It's
not that there's much to each taco (meat, cilantro,
onions, sauce), it's the way they put all but the sauce
on the tacos, then throw the sauce up in the air and
catch it with the rest of the taco, completing their
masterpiece.
I usually eat 4 tacos, and they run about $1.25 each.
It's quite a deal for such authentic food. My wife usually
has 3.
I know there are quite a few locations around the LA
and Orange County area. My advice is to find one an
try it. You may get just as hooked as I am.

Nice greasy Al Pastor tacos after drinking all night
and putting as much hot sauce on the tacos is the only
way to go!!!

Truly authentic Mexican tacos. Not Americanized. Yum!
January 27, 2003
They're a small chain. We've been going for years.
This is the real deal and has not been americanized.
The carne asada is the best anywhere. Too bad they don't
serve of all things....BEANS! Definetly not for the
faint of heart! Taqueria rocks.

Since I was a kid my dad used to take me to this place
to eat. It hasn't changed a bit. The carne asada tacos
are still delicious and the aguas frescas are well-made.
The place is great to have a family dinner at. The Mexican
atmosphere that it delivers is amazing. The food is
exceptional; no other mexican food restaurant in OC
can beat it.

They definitely have the best carne asada tacos that
I have tasted and I have been to a lot of these tacos
stands in the area. Tastes best as a midnight snack.
